TackleLondon is a youth development programme which uses the power of sports mentoring to uplift young people who have been affected by Adverse Childhood/Community Experiences (ACEs). We teach resilience, teamwork and confidence by creating a supportive environment where young individuals can overcome personal challenges, build essential life skills, and unlock their potential. Our mission is to empower London’s youth, providing them with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive, both on and off the field.
What does it really take to keep a young person safe?
Our special 2026 Case Study launch tells a story of trust earned slowly, steady commitment and mentoring that changed a life. It’s bigger than rugby. It’s about the impact of someone being there – every single week – and never giving up.
Making a positive difference through sports mentoring
So, How Does TackleLondon Work?
TackleLondon is all about using rugby as a gateway to long-term positive change. We run tailored sessions in schools and clubs across London, introducing young people to the values of rugby: teamwork, respect, discipline, and resilience. These sessions aren’t just about the sport; they’re designed to offer structure, mentorship, and support to students, many of whom face challenges outside the classroom.
The ultimate goal of TackleLondon is to build lasting connections between young people and local rugby club communities in order to support and imitigate the impacts of those affected by Adverse Childhood Experiances. By linking school sessions to community clubs, we create a support network that extends well beyond a student’s time in education. These clubs become safe, supportive spaces where young people can continue to grow, develop life skills, and build friendships that last into adulthood.
Even if a young person eventually steps away from playing rugby, the relationships they’ve formed – with coaches, teammates, and club mentors – remain. That sense of belonging and community doesn’t fade. It becomes a part of who they are. Many go on to give back as volunteers, role models, or supporters of the next generation.
